The practice homepage also lists Saturday 9:00am–4:00pm for Enhanced Access only, which is separate from normal reception opening. For a clinician request, the practice asks patients to use its online consultation system first where possible.

Start here: use the route that matches the problem

You need Best first step What happens next
Life-threatening emergency Call 999. Do not wait for an online consultation or GP callback.
A GP or clinical assessment Submit the practice’s Online Consultation where possible. The clinical team assesses the problem and decides whether telephone, video, face-to-face or another route is appropriate.
Same-working-day online response Submit the clinical request by 2:30pm. The practice says online consultations received by 2:30pm are dealt with the same day.
A practice nurse appointment Contact reception. The practice says nurse appointments are not currently offered through the online appointment system.
A repeat prescription Use NHS App, prescription email, POD, written request or the approved practice route. Allow two full working days, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
A test result Check NHS App or use an Online Consultation request. If you cannot use digital access, phone reception after 11:00am.
New-patient registration Use the NHS registration route linked by Whitehall. NHS currently lists the surgery as accepting new patients.
Urgent non-emergency help while closed Use NHS 111 online or call 111. NHS 111 directs you to an appropriate urgent service.

If NHS GP booking terminology is unfamiliar, the Medical Practice UK patient guide explains GP appointments, registration, NHS App access and out-of-hours care.

Whitehall Medical Practice opening hours

Day Published access What patients should know
Monday 8:00am–6:30pm Normal reception opening.
Tuesday 8:00am–6:30pm Normal reception opening.
Wednesday 8:00am–6:30pm Normal reception opening.
Thursday 8:00am–6:30pm Check current news for occasional protected-training closures.
Friday 8:00am–6:30pm Remember prescription processing excludes weekends.
Saturday 9:00am–4:00pm Enhanced Access only This is not normal Saturday reception opening; appointments must be arranged.
Sunday Closed Use NHS 111 for urgent non-emergency help.
Why NHS.uk says Saturday is closed: the NHS profile lists the practice’s normal reception opening times and shows Saturday closed. The Whitehall homepage separately lists Saturday 9:00am–4:00pm as “Enhanced Access only”. Do not arrive on Saturday without a booked Enhanced Access appointment.

How Whitehall’s online consultation and appointment system works

Whitehall describes its appointment model as a blended digital, telephone and face-to-face assessment system. The practice asks patients to submit an Online Consultation first where possible.

1
Start with the Online Consultation.
Use the official Whitehall appointment page or the Online GP Consultation/Request tile on the practice homepage. Describe the main medical problem or query clearly.
2
Watch the 2:30pm cutoff.
Online clinical consultations received by 2:30pm are dealt with the same day. Requests received later are dealt with on the following working day.
3
Keep your phone available.
The clinical team may use telephone, video or face-to-face assessment, depending on the problem and what is clinically appropriate.
4
If online access is unsuitable, use another route.
The practice also lists the NHS App, telephone 01788 542212 and reception as appointment routes.
Practice nurse appointments are different. Whitehall says that, because of the nature of nurse appointments, they cannot currently be booked through its online appointment system. Contact reception for the correct nurse slot.

Administrative requests

The practice says its online consultation service can also be used for administrative requests, including repeat fit-note queries and other non-clinical enquiries.

Missed telephone appointment

If you know you will be unavailable for a booked telephone consultation, cancel it through the appropriate online route or call the practice so that the slot can be offered to another patient.

Saturday and evening access through Rugby Health

Whitehall belongs to Rugby Health Primary Care Network, which covers the 12 GP practices in the Rugby area. Rugby Health provides Enhanced Access appointments every weekday evening and on Saturdays throughout the year.

These are booked appointments

Rugby Health says Enhanced Access is delivered from several GP practices, but patients must have an appointment first. Ask Whitehall reception to book the appropriate slot.

More than routine GP appointments

Enhanced Access can include routine general-practice appointments, family-planning care, first-contact physiotherapy and specialist nurse clinics such as diabetes and COPD.

Local Rugby route: you do not need to assume “Saturday 9–4” means normal Whitehall reception is open. Ask Whitehall reception about an Enhanced Access appointment first.

Repeat prescriptions: order in writing and allow two full working days

Whitehall does not accept repeat prescription requests by telephone. It says this restriction is intended to reduce potentially dangerous medication errors. A nominated pharmacy is required for collection of medicines.

Method Current Whitehall route
NHS App Use the NHS App to request repeat medicine from your repeat list.
Email Send the request to prescriptionswmp@nhs.net with your name and date of birth.
Prescription Ordering Direct The practice lists POD on 02476 246072.
In person or post Use the right-hand repeat-ordering slip and tick the medicines required.
Telephone request Not accepted for routine repeat prescriptions.
Processing time: allow two full working days, excluding weekends and bank holidays. The practice says the prescription should be ready after 4:00pm on the collection day.

Medication reviews

Patients on repeat medication are asked to have a medication review with an appropriate clinician at least once a year. A review reminder may appear on the repeat slip. Arrange the review promptly if requested so future prescriptions are not unnecessarily delayed.

For broader help with repeat medicines, reviews and urgent supply problems, use the NHS medication and prescription guide.

Test results: NHS App first, reception after 11am if you cannot get online

Whitehall says it contacts patients to pass on results when the result is abnormal. If you want to see your results yourself, the practice recommends using the NHS App.

1
Check the NHS App.
Use your record access to see results that have been made available.
2
You can also ask online.
The practice says patients can use an Online Consultation request from its homepage for results.
3
No digital access?
Phone reception after 11:00am. This avoids the busier early-morning appointment period.
Do not treat silence as a universal guarantee that every test needs no follow-up. If you were specifically told to check a result, or symptoms are continuing or worsening, follow the instruction given by the clinician who arranged the test.

Register with Whitehall Medical Practice

NHS.uk currently shows Whitehall Medical Practice as accepting new patients. The practice says residents of Rugby and surrounding areas are welcome to register and links to the national NHS online registration service.

1
Start from the Whitehall or NHS registration route.
Complete the national NHS registration form linked from the practice’s new-patient page.
2
Give accurate contact and previous-GP information.
This helps the new practice match and transfer your NHS record.
3
Whitehall currently asks for photo ID.
The practice page asks new patients to email photographic ID to rwmp@nhs.net after completing the registration.
4
Know the national NHS rule if you do not have ID.
NHS guidance says you do not need ID, proof of address, proof of immigration status or an NHS number simply to register with a GP surgery. If you cannot supply the ID requested by Whitehall, contact reception rather than abandoning the registration.
New-patient health check: Whitehall says new patients will be offered a health check with a member of the healthcare team. It also says you can still contact the practice for medical help from day one if you do not want the health check.

Temporary registration

Whitehall also publishes a temporary-patient route. Someone temporarily away from home may be registered for up to three months while remaining registered with their permanent GP. Contact the practice to check whether this route applies.

Home visits: for housebound patients or people too ill to attend

Whitehall says a home visit should only be requested when the patient is housebound or too ill to attend the practice. The GP decides whether the medical condition requires a home visit and how urgently the visit is needed.

Be prepared to give reception enough information for the clinician to assess the request. The practice says some home visits may be carried out by a Paramedic Practitioner who can assess the patient and create a treatment plan.

Different from Rugby Health’s proactive housebound service: Rugby Health also runs an Enhanced Practice Nurse service that reviews some housebound patients at home. That is planned preventative care and is not the same as requesting an acute home visit because you are unwell today.

Fit notes: use self-certification for the first seven days

Whitehall says you do not need a doctor’s fit note for an illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may instead ask you to complete a self-certification form.

More than seven days off work

If medical evidence is needed after seven days, a healthcare professional may provide a Statement of Fitness for Work where appropriate.

How Whitehall asks you to request one

The practice says fit-note requests should be sent through eConsult/online consultation, using the NHS App or the practice homepage.

Clinics and local services patients may not realise are available

Asthma and diabetes

Patients can book support and review appointments for asthma and diabetes.

Child health and immunisation

The practice lists baby health checks and routine childhood immunisation from 8 weeks.

Cervical screening

Patients are invited when a routine cervical-smear appointment is due and can book with the nursing team.

Family planning

The practice lists contraceptive care including implants and intra-uterine devices.

Minor surgery

Some minor operations can be carried out in the treatment room after appropriate GP assessment.

Travel health

Practice nurses provide travel-health and immunisation advice through the published travel route.

Whitehall is also a Rugby Primary Care Dermatology site

Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care currently lists Whitehall Medical Practice as one of its Rugby sites for Primary Care Dermatology. The service is for routine dermatology conditions, is available to eligible patients aged 16 and over across Coventry and Warwickshire, and access is through GP referral rather than direct walk-in booking.

Accessibility and communication support

Whitehall’s accessibility statement was last reviewed in October 2025 and gives specific communication-support information that is useful before an appointment.

Induction loops

The practice states that reception and consulting rooms have audio induction loops.

British Sign Language

The practice says a British Sign Language interpreter can be arranged if you contact the surgery before your appointment.

Alternative document formats

The practice invites patients to contact it if website information is needed in another format such as large print, easy read, audio or Braille.

Need a chaperone?

Whitehall’s chaperone policy says patients can ask for a chaperone at any time. If you know in advance that you want one, tell reception before the consultation.

Physical facilities: the current official pages reviewed here do not provide enough recent detail to safely list specific parking bays, step-free routes or toilet facilities as guaranteed features. If a particular physical facility is essential, call the practice before travelling.

Complaints, feedback and the Patient Participation Group

Make a complaint

The current practice-policies page says complaints can be sent to rwmp@nhs.net. The practice says it aims to resolve concerns as quickly and amicably as possible.

Official complaints and policies page

Patient Participation Group

Whitehall has a Patient Participation Group and says anyone is welcome to join. The practice publishes meeting minutes and offers online or paper sign-up routes.

CQC: fresh 2026 assessment, overall Good

Unlike many GP pages where the CQC rating is based on an old inspection, Whitehall has a recent 2026 CQC assessment. CQC’s assessment report was published on 18 August 2026.

CQC item Current record Context
Overall rating Good This is the rating currently displayed by CQC.
Assessment date 14 May 2026 CQC identifies this as the date of the current assessment.
Report published 18 August 2026 This is a recent regulatory report, not a historical rating being presented as new.
Safe Good Current key-question rating.
Effective Good Current key-question rating.
Caring Good Current key-question rating.
Responsive Good Current key-question rating.
Well-led Good Current key-question rating.
This rating is genuinely current context. The assessment took place in May 2026 and the report was published in August 2026, so there is no need to imply that an older inspection represents a new 2026 judgement.
