Sorrel Bank Medical Practice opening hours
The practice’s current opening page gives more detail than a simple 8am–6:30pm timetable. It says reception is open from 7:30am for enquiries and the surgery remains open until 6:30pm.
| Period | Published practice arrangement | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday from 7:30am | Practice open for enquiries. | Do not assume every clinician starts at 7:30am; individual surgery sessions vary. |
| Morning surgeries | Doctors operate staggered morning sessions. | Reception can advise on current appointment availability. |
| 12:00pm–1:00pm | Usually no surgery session, but reception remains open. | Patients can still deal with reception tasks during this period. |
| Afternoon | Surgery sessions restart from about 1:00pm with staggered clinicians. | Doctor finishing times can differ. |
| Until 6:30pm | Practice remains open. | Useful for reception enquiries after normal working hours. |
| Saturday and Sunday | Normal surgery closed. | Pre-booked Salford enhanced-access appointments operate separately. |
AccuRx replaced PATCHS for online consultations
The practice announced a major digital change in July 2026. From 17 July 2026, Sorrel Bank moved its online medical and administrative consultation route from PATCHS to AccuRx.
The practice says AccuRx can be used to:
- contact the practice online about a medical problem;
- send administrative requests without needing to telephone;
- receive secure practice messages and updates.
The practice says the current online form is accessed through its website.
Explain the main issue clearly and give a reliable callback number.
AccuRx allows the practice to send updates and messages about your request.
Phone reception during opening hours, NHS 111 when closed, or 999 for emergencies.
What can happen after you contact the practice?
GP or nurse appointment
The practice may arrange the earliest suitable appointment with a GP, nurse or another appropriate professional.
Secure digital response
Some AccuRx requests can be answered through a secure message rather than a conventional appointment.
Pharmacy care
Sorrel Bank works with community pharmacists and may direct suitable minor-health problems to a pharmacy consultation.
Enhanced access
If routine care is needed outside the main surgery timetable, reception can check Salford South East PCN evening or Saturday appointments.
Appointments: phone, online and practical rules
Booking by telephone
The official appointments page says patients can telephone during opening hours and will be offered the earliest possible appointment. A particular doctor or healthcare professional cannot always be guaranteed.
Urgent patients and young children
The practice says urgent cases, babies and small children are fitted into surgery time. Patients arriving without a prior urgent appointment may have to wait while clinically necessary cases are managed.
Need a longer appointment?
Tell reception when booking if you need more time for a procedure such as cervical screening or coil-related care. The practice asks patients to identify this in advance so an appropriate appointment length can be arranged.
Interpreter
If you need an interpreter, tell reception when requesting the appointment so the practice can make arrangements.
Chaperone
The practice publishes a chaperone policy and asks patients to tell the team if they would like a chaperone present during a physical examination.
Late arrival
Sorrel Bank warns that patients arriving late may not be seen and may have to rearrange for another working day, except where an immediate medical emergency applies.
Cancellation
Cancel as soon as possible if you cannot attend. The practice says repeated missed appointments without notification can trigger written warnings and may affect registration.
Evening and Saturday GP appointments across Salford
Sorrel Bank is a member of Salford South East Primary Care Network. Registered patients can access pre-booked enhanced-access appointments outside the normal surgery weekend timetable.
| Enhanced-access period | Published location | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday evenings until 8:00pm | The Hub, 9 Victoria Road, Salford, M6 8FZ | Contact Sorrel Bank reception to book an available appointment. |
| Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm | 1st Floor, Pendleton Gateway, 1 Broadwalk, Salford, M6 5FX | Pre-book through your GP practice; this is not a normal walk-in Sorrel Bank session. |
| Weekend cervical screening | PCN enhanced-access service | Patients with a screening invitation can ask the practice about available evening/weekend screening slots. |
Home visits: call before 10am where possible
If you are housebound because of illness or disability and think you require a home visit, the practice asks patients to telephone reception before 10:00am where possible.
A doctor or nurse may call you first. Telephone advice, a nursing visit or hospital assessment may be safer or more appropriate than a GP home visit.
Repeat prescriptions: NHS App first, with older routes still visible
The current prescription page promotes the NHS App as the safest and easiest way for many patients to request repeat medication. It also explains the Electronic Prescription Service, allowing prescriptions to be sent directly to a nominated pharmacy.
NHS App
Use the NHS App or NHS website account to request medicines that are currently authorised as repeat items and to manage your nominated pharmacy where supported.
Electronic Prescription Service
Choose a pharmacy or other eligible dispenser as your nomination so approved prescriptions can be sent electronically rather than collected from reception.
For broader NHS App, medication-review and urgent-medicine guidance, see the Medication Practices guide.
Test results: the practice gives a quieter phone window
Sorrel Bank’s test-results page asks patients to call between 11:00am and 3:30pm, when reception is more likely to have time to deal with result enquiries.
The practice says patients should be told the expected return time when the test is taken.
The practice says it is the patient’s responsibility to check results and arrange follow-up if advised.
Use 0161 736 1616 between 11:00am and 3:30pm where possible.
The practice normally releases a result only to the person it concerns unless prior permission or another appropriate basis applies.
Register with Sorrel Bank Medical Practice
NHS currently lists Sorrel Bank Medical Practice as accepting new patients. The practice says its normal patient boundary extends around 1.5 miles from the surgery.
The official page says some addresses in Walkden, Worsley, Little Hulton and Boothstown are outside its home-visit range.
The practice links to the NHS Register with a GP surgery route.
Sorrel Bank asks people unable to provide proof of address or ID to speak with reception. National NHS guidance says ID, proof of address, immigration status and an NHS number are not normally required simply to register.
The practice publishes temporary-patient information for people who become ill while away from their usual GP.
If your address falls outside Sorrel Bank’s boundary, the nearby Newbury Green Medical Practice guide may help you compare another Salford GP route, but check that practice’s own catchment before applying.
Parking, disabled access and interpreter support
Parking
The practice’s opening-hours page states that parking is available in front of the surgery.
Disabled parking
The new-patient page lists a disabled car-parking space among the practice facilities.
Ramp and toilet
The practice lists a ramp and disabled toilet facilities.
Interpreter
Tell reception when booking if you require an interpreter for your consultation.
For another Salford-area practice with different access and appointment arrangements, see the Silverdale Medical Practice guide.

Official complaint informationPatient Participation Group
Sorrel Bank has a Patient Participation Group. Patients can join by online form or by emailing the dedicated PPG address published by the practice.
