Online triage: how Ancora now requests GP appointments
The practice’s appointment page was updated in July 2026 and says that appointment booking has changed. The current system uses an online triage form, linked through Accurx, to assess both same-day needs and follow-up requests.
Use the online triage form when you need a GP appointment or clinical follow-up. The practice advises patients to use triage from 8:00am where it is available.
Give enough information for the practice to understand what is wrong, how long it has been happening and whether the problem is getting worse.
Your form is reviewed and allocated according to clinical need and the type of appointment required.
You may be given a same-day slot, an appropriate future appointment, advice or another care route.
Same-day or planned care? Ancora’s appointment window explained
Same-day appointments
Most GP slots are described as same-day appointments. They are requested on the day through online triage and allocated after assessment.
Follow-up within two weeks
The practice says clinics are currently available only two weeks in advance. If a clinician asks you to return, submit triage within the two-week period in which the follow-up is needed.
Limited pre-booked GP slots
The first two appointments in each GP session may be pre-booked up to 14 days ahead after an online triage request has been assessed.
Need more time?
Standard GP appointments are 10 minutes. The practice asks patients to use one appointment for one patient and one main issue; longer appointments can be requested for more complex needs.
Booking, changing and cancelling appointments
Ancora says appointments can be booked, changed or cancelled online, by telephone or in person. The online triage form is now central to new GP appointment requests, but reception remains important for patients who need help using it.
| Appointment issue | Practical Ancora rule |
|---|---|
| GP consultation length | Doctor appointments are normally 10 minutes. |
| Several medical issues | Ask about a longer appointment rather than expecting several problems to be covered in one standard slot. |
| Cannot attend | Cancel the appointment so another patient can use it. |
| Chaperone required | Ask for a chaperone when arranging the appointment where possible. A trained practice chaperone can be provided. |
| Interpreter required | Tell reception before the appointment so an interpreter can be arranged. |
| Evening/weekend access | Registered patients may be offered appointments at NHS locations across North Lincolnshire. Ask reception about availability. |
Home visits: request before 11:00am where possible
Ancora says home visits are for patients who are too ill or frail to attend the surgery. If you think a home visit is needed, contact reception and try to make the request by 11:00am.
Reception may ask about symptoms so the practice can judge urgency. If there is uncertainty about whether a visit is appropriate, a doctor may discuss the problem and advise you.
Repeat prescriptions: allow 72 working hours
Ancora Medical Practice publishes several repeat-prescription routes. Telephone ordering is specifically excluded because of the volume of requests received.
| Prescription route | What to do |
|---|---|
| NHS App / admin triage | Submit the medication request through the available online route and clearly select the medicines needed. |
| Repeat slip | Tick the required items and place the request in the repeat-prescribing box at reception. |
| Post | Post the repeat request; include a stamped addressed envelope if a postal return is required. |
| Reception | A written repeat request can be handed to the front desk. |
| Telephone | Do not use this route. The practice says repeat prescriptions are not accepted over the phone. |
Electronic Prescription Service
Ancora uses the NHS Electronic Prescription Service. For most patients, prescriptions can be sent directly to a nominated pharmacy. Ask the practice or your pharmacy about changing your nomination before the next prescription is issued.
For broader help with repeat medicines, reviews and NHS App ordering, see the MedicalPracticeUK medication guide.
Test results: phone between 2:00pm and 4:00pm
Ancora’s test-results page says telephone enquiries are best made between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The doctor must have seen the result and agreed that it can be released by telephone.
Follow any timing advice given when the test was arranged.
Phone 01724 842244 between 2:00pm and 4:00pm where possible.
Reception can only release information the doctor has authorised; administrative staff should not be expected to interpret clinical results.
Fit notes and Med3 requests
Seven days or less
The practice says you normally do not need to see a doctor for the first seven days of sickness. Use self-certification for your employer where appropriate.
New fit note after seven days
For a new Med3, the practice asks patients to follow the appointment system so a GP can review the request.
Ongoing fit note
Use the online admin triage form through the practice’s Contact Us route.
Processing time
The practice asks patients to allow 72 working hours for an ongoing or additional fit-note request.
Register with Ancora Medical Practice
The official practice page says Ancora currently has an open list, and NHS.uk currently shows the Ashby Road surgery as accepting new patients. Registration is for people living in or moving into the practice area.
Ancora links directly to the NHS online registration service for organisation code B81026.
You can obtain a GMS1 form from reception if online registration is unsuitable.
The practice says new patients are offered a new-registration appointment with a healthcare assistant to complete its registration forms.
You can express a preference for a particular clinician, but the practice cannot always guarantee that person will be available.
Temporary patients
The practice also explains temporary registration for people who are away from home. A temporary registration can normally last for up to three months while you remain registered with your permanent GP.
Services that make Ancora more than a standard GP booking point
The practice publishes nursing, healthcare-assistant, long-term-condition and minor-procedure services. Appointment type and eligibility vary, so use the official service page or reception rather than assuming a GP appointment is required.
Practice nurse clinics
Published work includes cervical screening, contraception, wound care, child immunisation and long-term-condition management.
Healthcare assistants
Services listed include phlebotomy, blood-pressure checks, ECGs, diabetic foot checks, wound management and NHS health checks.
Long-term conditions
The practice lists reviews for conditions including asthma, diabetes, COPD, thyroid problems and coronary disease.
Family planning
Ancora publishes family-planning provision including contraceptive advice and procedures within its clinical services.
Minor surgery
The practice says doctors carry out minor surgery with support from healthcare assistants.
Social prescribing
Ancora is part of North Lincolnshire South Primary Care Network, which publishes social-prescribing and other additional primary-care services.
North Lincolnshire non-scalpel vasectomy service
Ancora publishes a non-scalpel vasectomy service at its Ashby Road site. The practice states that the procedure is available to eligible male patients across North Lincolnshire, including people who are not registered with Ancora. Patients are advised to speak to their own GP for information and referral.
Official Ancora vasectomy service informationInterpreter, chaperone and practical visit support
The current appointment page gives two practical support routes that are worth arranging before you attend.
Interpreter
If you need an interpreter for a consultation, tell reception before the appointment so the practice can arrange support.
Chaperone
Patients may ask for a chaperone during a consultation, examination or procedure. Ancora asks patients to request one when booking where possible, because an appointment may otherwise need to be rearranged.
Suggestions, complaints and patient involvement
Complaint about the practice
Ancora publishes a formal complaints process. The official page directs patients to the practice’s complaint form or to the Practice Director for help making a complaint.
Official Ancora complaints informationPatient Participation Group
The practice has a Patient Participation Group for patients interested in service development, local healthcare changes and practice feedback. Contact reception or use the official PPG page if you want to participate.
Ancora Patient Participation GroupCQC rating: Good, but the inspection is historical
The Care Quality Commission currently displays an overall rating of Good for Ancora Medical Practice. The dates are important because this is not a new 2026 inspection.
| CQC information | Published record | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Current displayed rating | Good | This is the overall rating currently shown on the CQC service page. |
| Latest inspection | 30 July 2015 | The inspection itself is historical. |
| Report published | 5 November 2015 | The Good rating originates from the 2015 inspection period. |
| Later CQC review | 6 July 2023 | CQC reviewed available data and did not find evidence requiring reassessment at that stage. |
