Start with the task you need to complete

You need Best first step What Ashlea says happens next
Life-threatening emergency Call 999. Do not wait for Accurx, reception or NHS 111.
Urgent appointment today or tomorrow Phone your surgery from 8:00am or attend reception. The practice reviews your need and may arrange same-day or next-day care where appropriate.
Routine GP appointment Use the online medical form, phone, attend reception or use NHS App where the task is supported. Ashlea’s page currently describes routine appointments as being in the 3–5 week range, although clinical triage determines urgency.
Non-urgent medical request online Use the Accurx medical form from the official practice website or NHS App. Medical requests are triaged and the practice says it responds during surgery hours.
Administrative request Use the practice online admin route. The practice privacy information states administrative online queries are handled within 3 working days.
Repeat prescription Use NHS App/NHS account, the repeat form or a paper request. The practice says prescriptions can usually be collected from the nominated pharmacy 4 working days after ordering.
Test result Check NHS App, use the online results form or phone/visit after 2pm. Results are made available after doctor review; an online result request has a stated response time of up to 5 working days.
Home visit Phone before 11:00am where possible. The practice phones first to understand your need before arranging a home visit.
New-patient registration Check the practice boundary, then choose Gilbert House or Linden House when registering. Ashlea says it is currently accepting new patients and offers online registration.
Urgent help when closed NHS 111 online or call 111. Use 999 instead if the situation is life-threatening.

Gilbert House or Linden House: which site should you use?

Appointments: urgent from 8am, routine requests later

Urgent appointment for today or tomorrow

If you believe you need an urgent appointment on a weekday, Ashlea asks patients to phone from 8:00am or attend reception. The team asks what you need help with and uses that information to decide which clinician and response are most suitable.

Where clinically appropriate, the practice says urgent patients may be offered an appointment on the same working day or the next day. If immediate hospital assessment is needed, the practice may direct you there instead.

Routine appointment

The current appointment page describes routine requests as appointments generally in the 3–5 week range. You can request one using the online form, by phone, at reception, or through NHS App where the specific appointment or screening task is available.

Do not wait 3–5 weeks if the problem becomes more urgent. That figure describes the routine pathway, not a rule for worsening symptoms. Re-contact the practice, use NHS 111 or call 999 depending on severity.

Consultation format

Depending on the request, Ashlea may offer:

  • a face-to-face appointment;
  • a telephone consultation;
  • a video consultation;
  • communication by text or email.

Tell the practice if you would prefer a particular health professional, need an interpreter or have another communication/access requirement. Asking for one specific clinician can mean a longer wait if that person is fully booked or away.

Cancel as soon as possible

You can cancel using the link in your appointment confirmation, the online cancellation form, NHS App/NHS account or the relevant surgery telephone.

Accurx online requests: what is actually current?

Ashlea uses Accurx for digital medical and administrative contact. The system can be reached through the practice website and, for supported requests, through NHS App/NHS account.

1
Start from the official Ashlea website.
This reduces the risk of using an old or bookmarked third-party form.
2
Choose medical or administrative contact correctly.
Ashlea specifically says not to submit a medical problem through the “Admin Query” form.
3
Give enough clinical detail.
The team uses your information to decide how quickly you need help, who should respond and whether a face-to-face appointment is appropriate.
4
Watch for the practice response.
The practice says medical online requests are triaged on the day; its privacy information gives a three-working-day response period for administrative queries.
Medical-form availability: the appointment page says the “Help with a medical issue” form is usually available 8:00am–5:00pm Monday to Friday. It may be switched off earlier for safety if the practice cannot safely manage more requests.
General online contact: the broader Contact Us page advertises online non-urgent medical and admin contact from 8:00am–6:30pm. The medical appointment form itself has the narrower “usually 8am–5pm” availability, so do not assume every form stays open until 6:30pm.

The May 2026 request-form update can redirect you before a GP appointment

Ashlea says its updated online GP request form may suggest another NHS service capable of giving direct advice or treatment. That can include a more appropriate local route rather than automatically creating a GP appointment.

What happens after Ashlea reviews your request?

GP or nurse care

The practice can arrange the most suitable available doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional based on the information supplied.

Same-day or next-day care

Urgent requests may be accommodated the same working day or following day where clinically appropriate.

Digital response

Some requests can be resolved by telephone, video, secure text or email rather than an in-person consultation.

Another NHS service

The online request system may suggest pharmacy, self-referral or another NHS service when that route is more appropriate.

Evening and weekend GP appointments through Dorking Healthcare

Ashlea says additional GP appointments are available during evenings and weekends through its GP federation, Dorking Healthcare (DHC).

These are separate from the normal Monday–Friday Ashlea opening hours. Request an extended-access appointment by contacting Gilbert House or Linden House.

If you need to contact the hub when Ashlea itself is closed: the practice currently publishes 01306 771125 for the extended-access service.
Check the appointment venue. An evening or weekend hub appointment may be at another local clinical site rather than Gilbert House or Linden House.

Home visits: request before 11am where possible

If you are housebound and need an appointment, Ashlea says it will arrange a home visit where appropriate. Phone your surgery before 11:00am where possible.

The practice says it will telephone first to understand what you need before the visit is arranged.

Give the team a reliable callback number. The initial telephone discussion helps the practice understand urgency and whether the request needs a home visit or another type of clinical care.

Repeat prescriptions: NHS App, online form or paper request

Ashlea’s current prescription page recommends NHS App/NHS account as the easiest route for repeat medication.

Prescription route Current Ashlea guidance
NHS App / NHS account Select medicines already authorised on your repeat list and submit the request electronically.
Practice repeat form Use Ashlea’s repeat-prescription request form.
Paper request Bring the paper request to the surgery while it is open.
Telephone Not accepted for routine repeat prescription orders.
Email Not accepted for routine repeat prescription orders.
Collection Ashlea says prescriptions can usually be collected from the nominated pharmacy 4 working days after ordering.

Repeat dispensing for stable long-term medication

Ashlea says suitable patients can receive a batch covering six or twelve months of long-term medication through the pharmacy rather than requesting every issue individually. The GP still reviews the medicine at least annually.

Medication review: if you take medicine regularly, Ashlea advises checking at least once a year that it is still appropriate, and sooner if you develop side effects.
Prescription approved does not always mean pharmacy collection is immediate. Allow the nominated pharmacy time to prepare the medicine after it receives the electronic prescription.

Test results: NHS App, online form or contact after 2pm

Ashlea publishes unusually clear result instructions. Once a doctor has reviewed your result, you can use three main routes.

1
Check NHS App/NHS account.
Reviewed results may be available in your GP health record.
2
Use the Ashlea result form.
The practice says it will respond to an online test-result request within 5 working days.
3
Phone or visit after 2:00pm.
Ashlea asks patients using reception for results to make contact after 2pm.
If more tests or treatment are needed: the practice says it will contact you. If you have questions about the meaning of a result, use the specific results request form so someone can respond.
Do not apply the 5-working-day form response to the laboratory itself. That is Ashlea’s response target for an online result enquiry after results are available, not a promise that every test will be completed within five days.

Register with Ashlea Medical Practice

The current registration page says Ashlea Medical Practice is accepting new patients. Patients within the catchment can register with either Gilbert House or Linden House.

1
Check your postcode first.
Use the practice catchment checker before completing the registration form.
2
Choose your surgery.
Ashlea provides separate online registration routes for Linden House and Gilbert House.
3
Complete the NHS registration form.
The practice describes online registration as taking around 10 minutes.
4
Ask for help if online registration is difficult.
Call the relevant surgery or visit reception during opening hours.
Named GP: Ashlea allocates every registered patient a named accountable GP, but the practice says you can still request another doctor or nurse rather than seeing only your named GP.

Useful Ashlea services that may need a different route

Cervical screening

Eligible patients aged 25–64 are invited under the national programme. Ashlea says you can book once invited and do not need to wait for another invitation if you missed your previous screening.

Travel vaccination

Ashlea asks patients to request travel advice at least 8 weeks before departure, because some vaccination courses need several doses or time to develop immunity.

Referral tracking

If Ashlea has referred you for specialist care, you can check supported referral information through NHS App/NHS account or contact the surgery.

Pharmacy First

The practice actively directs patients to pharmacies for suitable minor illnesses that may not need a GP appointment.

Medical records

Patients can use NHS App/NHS account for GP-record access where enabled. Proxy access can be arranged for eligible parents, carers or family members.

Sexual health

Ashlea signposts Healthy Surrey Sexual Health for confidential STI, HIV-testing and contraception services, with practice appointments available where needed.

Parking and accessibility at both surgeries

Step-free and wheelchair access

The practice lists step-free access and wheelchair access at the surgeries.

Disabled parking

Disabled parking is listed at both sites.

Car parking

Car parking is available at both surgeries. Linden House also has public 30-minute free bays.

Cycle parking

Cycle parking is listed at both sites.

Hearing support

Induction loops are available, and the accessibility page says the practice can arrange a BSL interpreter if contacted before the visit.

Other facilities

The practice lists disabled toilets, Braille translation support and baby-changing facilities.

Need a specific adjustment? Tell the practice when arranging the appointment rather than waiting until arrival. This is particularly useful for interpreter, hearing, mobility or communication requirements.

Formal complaints: what Ashlea asks you to include

Ashlea recommends putting a formal complaint in writing so there is a clear record. You can write to the surgery or use the online Surgery Feedback form and state clearly that it is a Formal Complaint.

Include useful details

Give the patient’s full name and date of birth, plus the relevant dates, times, staff names if known, what happened and what outcome you are seeking.

Published complaint timing

Ashlea aims to acknowledge complaints within 3 working days and aims to provide its written response within 25 working days.

Complaint deadline: the practice says complaints should normally be made within 12 months of the event or within 12 months of becoming aware that there was something to complain about, although exceptions may be considered.

CQC rating: Good, but read the two-site record carefully

CQC’s active location record for Ashlea Medical Practice is currently attached to Linden House, 30 Upper Fairfield Road, Leatherhead. It shows an overall rating of Good, with Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led all rated Good.

Gilbert House CQC history: the old Gilbert House location record was archived by CQC on 6 July 2018. Ashlea’s live 2026 practice website still lists Gilbert House as an operating surgery. The CQC archive therefore should not be described as Gilbert House being currently closed.
