The September 2026 GP appointment system
The current practice news says that from 14 September 2026, all GP appointment requests must be submitted online through the practice website or NHS App. This is a major change from older phone-led booking information.
Start the GP appointment request from the official online route rather than relying on an old bookmark or directory.
The current website warns patients to choose the correct questionnaire because using the wrong request type can delay or reject the submission.
Include what has changed, how long it has been happening and why you need help. The practice uses this information to decide the next step.
The practice may respond by phone, text or another appropriate method after the request has been reviewed.
The current website says non-urgent routine appointments will usually be scheduled within six weeks. If the condition becomes urgent or worsens, contact the practice sooner.
Why Daybrook may route you to someone other than a GP
Practice nurse
Nurses provide chronic-disease care, vaccinations and other clinical services that do not always require a doctor.
First Contact Physio
The current team includes a First Contact Physiotherapist for suitable musculoskeletal problems.
PCN pharmacist
Clinical pharmacists support medication-related care and can be the right professional for some medicine questions and reviews.
Emergency care practitioner / paramedic
The published practice team includes emergency-care practitioners and paramedics who support appropriate same-day and community care.
NHS App and online requests
Daybrook’s current website promotes online access for appointments, prescriptions, test results, fit notes and administrative requests.
NHS App / NHS account
- Request or manage supported appointments.
- Order repeat prescriptions.
- View parts of your GP health record.
- View available test results.
- Receive practice messages.
Practice website request route
- GP appointment requests.
- Non-urgent medical advice.
- Test-result queries.
- Fit-note requests.
- Referral or letter updates.
- General administrative requests.
Fit-note micro-guide
The current Daybrook fit-note page gives a specific route: open the practice website, choose the online GP-contact area, select an Admin Request, then choose Fit Note and complete the form. The request goes to a GP for review.
Home visits: call before 10am where possible
The practice asks patients who believe a home visit is needed to contact it before 10:00am where possible.
Do not wait for a home visit if the situation is life-threatening. Call 999.
Repeat prescriptions: use the NHS App or current online route
The current Daybrook website promotes the NHS App and online services for repeat-prescription ordering. This avoids relying on old telephone-booking information.
Check the medicine name and dose before submitting.
The electronic prescription will normally be sent there once authorised.
Allow time both for GP approval and for the pharmacy to dispense the medicine, especially before weekends and bank holidays.
Test results: NHS App first, online query if something is unclear
The practice’s current digital-access information says patients can use online services to check test results. The NHS App is usually the quickest first place to look once a result has been released to your record.
Look under your GP health record or results area if access has been enabled.
A result can be outside a reference range without automatically meaning treatment is needed.
Use the practice’s online test-result questionnaire so the clinical team knows exactly which result you are asking about.
Registering with Daybrook Medical Practice
The NHS profile currently states that Daybrook Medical Practice is accepting new patients.
Use NHS Find a GP or the registration information linked from the official profile.
Most practices in England can now accept NHS online registration, with a paper route available where needed.
This helps records and repeat medicine information transfer correctly.
NHS guidance says you do not need ID, proof of address, proof of immigration status or an NHS number simply to register with a GP surgery in England.
Daybrook’s wider primary-care team
The current practice team page lists more than doctors and nurses. Knowing this matters because your online GP request may be routed to another professional when that is more appropriate.
PCN pharmacists
Support medicine-related work, medication review and prescribing processes.
Social prescriber
Can help with suitable non-medical needs and community-based support.
First Contact Physiotherapist
Supports suitable muscle, joint and musculoskeletal problems.
Emergency-care practitioners
The practice team includes paramedic/emergency-care roles that can support appropriate clinical requests.
Children’s mental-health support
The current team page lists a children’s mental-health worker within the wider practice network.
Care-home support
The published team includes care-home coordination roles for patients requiring this service.
Accessibility and communication support
CQC’s latest assessment records several practical adjustments at Daybrook Medical Practice.
Hearing and communication
- Hearing loop at reception.
- Interpreter and translation services.
- British Sign Language support can be arranged.
- Additional communication needs can be recorded on the patient record.
Waiting and mobility support
- CQC records disabled parking.
- People who are blind or hard of hearing can be collected from the waiting room by clinicians.
- Patients with autism or learning disabilities can be offered a quieter waiting place.
