Clarendon Lodge Medical Practice: Rapid Health, Total Triage, appointments and hours

Extended access
Clarendon Lodge says extended-access appointments are available in partnership with its local Primary Care Network. Current practice information lists availability:
- in the morning from 7:00am–8:00am;
- in the evening until 8:30pm;
- and on Saturday.
Rapid Health and Total Triage: how appointments work
Clarendon Lodge announced its move to Total Triage in June 2025. The practice says every appointment request is reviewed first, helping it prioritise urgent need and route patients to the most suitable professional.
Use this for a GP or another clinician appointment request.
Give enough detail for the team to understand the problem, how urgent it appears and which type of care may be most appropriate.
The appointment page says forms submitted during working hours are reviewed on the same day. The separate online-request section says patients should receive an email response within one working day.
This may be same-day contact, a later appointment, advice, or care from a nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist or another member of the team.
What can Total Triage do?
Prioritise urgent need
Clinical need determines priority rather than simply who contacts reception first.
Support continuity
The practice says patients can request a specific doctor and it will try to accommodate this where possible.
Use the wider team
Care can involve GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, first-contact physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians, social prescribers or MIND counsellors.
Avoid unnecessary appointments
Some concerns can be managed safely with advice or another professional rather than a face-to-face GP appointment.
Nurse appointments should be booked directly with reception
Clarendon Lodge specifically says nursing-team appointments cannot be booked online through Rapid Health. Call reception instead.
Blood tests
Practice blood-test appointments can be booked with reception when the surgery has requested the test.
Diabetes
The nursing team provides diabetes check-ups and long-term-condition monitoring.
Asthma & COPD
Respiratory reviews are among the current nursing-team services.
Vaccinations
Published nursing appointments include childhood, adult and travel vaccinations.
Cervical screening
Smear appointments are booked directly with the nursing team when due.
ECG / dressings
ECGs and wound dressings are also among the appointments listed for the nursing team.
Home visits: request by 10:30am where possible
Home visits are reserved for patients who are physically unable to attend the surgery. The practice specifically says lack of transport or convenience is not, by itself, a reason for a home visit.
The practice charter asks patients to make home-visit requests by this time where possible.
Reception passes enough information to the duty doctor to help assess urgency.
The current appointment guidance says a clinician may discuss the request by telephone before deciding whether a visit is required.
Clarendon Lodge gives examples such as severe chest pain, severe breathlessness or sudden collapse, where an ambulance may be a safer response than waiting for a home visit.
Repeat prescriptions: allow up to three working days
Clarendon Lodge says repeat-prescription requests take up to three working days to process at the practice. Your pharmacy may then need additional time to dispense the medicine.
| Route | How to use it |
|---|---|
| NHS App | The practice describes this as the quickest and easiest repeat-medication route. |
| Patient Access | Patients with access can use the linked online service for repeat medication. |
| Usual pharmacy | Some pharmacies provide a repeat-ordering service; allow an additional day where the pharmacy submits the request for you. |
| Paper repeat slip | Tick the required items and post the slip or put it in the practice entrance-foyer box. |
| Telephone | Do not phone in a routine repeat request; the practice states telephone repeat requests will not be processed. |
| Electronic Prescription Service | Nominate a regular pharmacy so approved prescriptions can be sent electronically. |
Acute or one-off medication
If you need a medicine that is not currently on your normal repeat list, but you have previously had it within the last 12 months, Clarendon Lodge provides a separate acute-prescription request form. The clinician can still decline the request or ask to review you.
For broader help with repeat medicines and medication reviews, see the MedicalPracticeUK medication guide.
Blood tests and results: practice tests vs hospital tests
Routine blood-test booking
Only request a blood-test appointment when the surgery has asked for one. You can currently have the test:
- at Clarendon Lodge — book with reception;
- or through the local hospital phlebotomy service.
If using the hospital phlebotomy service, the practice says you need to take a printed blood-test request collected from reception. The current page lists the local phlebotomy booking line as 02476 153546, 12:00pm–6:00pm Monday to Friday.
Getting the result
Clarendon Lodge says patients can view blood-test results through online access once available.
If the practice asks you to complete an online medication review after a blood test, complete the requested review.
You can still review your own results online rather than relying entirely on a phone call.
Contact the hospital department that requested it. Clarendon Lodge explicitly says it does not have access to tests requested by hospital teams.
Register with Clarendon Lodge Medical Practice
Clarendon Lodge currently says it is welcoming new patients who live within its designated catchment area. The practice does not currently accept patients living outside the boundary.
Confirm that your home address is inside the practice boundary before completing the registration.
The practice provides a direct online registration route from its current registration page.
If registering in person, both the New Patient Registration Form and New Patient Questionnaire/Consent Information must be returned before the registration can progress.
Call 01926 331401 if you need an accessible alternative or help understanding the registration paperwork.
Use the right clinician or local NHS service
Clarendon Lodge’s Total Triage model is designed to use the wider primary-care team, not automatically place every patient into a GP appointment.
Pharmacy First
Participating pharmacies can assess and, where appropriate, supply prescription treatment for seven NHS conditions including sinusitis, sore throat, earache, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles and uncomplicated UTI in eligible women.
First-contact physiotherapy
The practice lists first-contact physiotherapists among its wider clinical team, making some musculoskeletal problems suitable for direct specialist assessment rather than a GP appointment.
Clinical pharmacist
Medication-related care can sometimes be handled by the clinical-pharmacy team rather than a GP.
Social prescribing
Social prescribers can support patients whose wellbeing is affected by isolation, practical difficulties or other non-medical factors.
MIND counselling
The practice charter lists MIND counsellors among the professionals available through its local care network.
Dietetic support
Dietitians are also listed as part of the wider team available to support appropriate patient needs.
Wheelchair access, ground-floor consulting and communication support
Clarendon Lodge operates from a converted building, so its current contact page gives practical guidance for patients with mobility or communication needs.
Physical access
- Ramp as well as steps at the entrance.
- Suitable for patients using wheelchairs or walking aids.
- A ground-floor consulting room is available.
- Some doctors normally work upstairs, so tell reception about mobility needs when booking.
Communication adjustments
- Braille information can be requested.
- Large-print information can be requested.
- Easy Read can be requested.
- British Sign Language interpreter support can be requested.
- Advocacy support can be discussed.
- The practice asks patients to tell it about lip-reading, hearing-aid or other communication needs.
Complaints, feedback and patient participation
Clarendon Lodge says it welcomes both positive and negative feedback. A practice complaints procedure is available, and the Practice Manager can provide further information about how a concern will be handled.
Raise the issue with the practice
Use the contact route or ask for the Practice Manager if you want to make a formal complaint. The current practice page does not publish a simple fixed response deadline, so this guide does not invent one.
If the complaint remains unresolved
The practice directs patients to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman for information about escalating complaints concerning NHS services in England.
Patient Participation Group
Clarendon Lodge also publishes Patient Participation Group material, including meeting records from 2026. The PPG is for broader patient involvement and practice development rather than individual urgent clinical requests.
